Will Boone, PhD.

Will Boone is a multi-disciplinary, multi-genre artist and associate professor of English and African Studies at Winston-Salem State University, where he teaches courses on hip-hop, gender, popular culture, African American culture and African American literature. Professor Boone received his PhD in African American studies from Temple University in 2008. His dissertation, “The Beautiful Struggle: an Analysis of Hip-Hop Icons, Archetypes and Aesthetics,” explores the influence of African American icons on hip hop cultural expression. Nonetheless, he began acting and playing bass guitar at Delaware State University, where he minored in Theatre.

Tabari Sturdivant

In 2008 Tabari Sturdivant was presented the chance to work the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios, and it turned out to be an awesome opportunity. Soon after Roger Bobb (Sr. VP / Producer) of Tyler Perry Studios hired him as Production Assistant on House of Payne and Meet the Browns. Tabari has since worked on over 300 television shows and 6 movies. In 2010 he was called on to be one of Tyler Perry’s Executive Assistants. During his shift, Tyler Perry did a national tour of Madea’s BIG Happy Family (Play) and the movies For Colored Girls and Madea’s BIG Happy Family.

Jason Luntz

Jason Luntz is a new media strategist and the founder of UrVoyce, a small business that utilizes the creation of original content, multimedia projects, website design and social networks to help organizations build an online presence. Jason is also an adjunct professor in the communications department at Tennessee State University, where he teaches courses in entrepreneurship, public speaking, and news editing. For nearly two years, he served as the president of the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Dr. Doris A. Derby

Dr. Doris A. Derby, an educator from New York City, earned her BA Degree from Hunter College, NYC. She received her MA and Ph.D. in Cultural/Social Anthropology, specializing in African American Studies, at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana in 1980. She is also a documentary photographer, filmmaker, exhibitor, speaker, art collector, activist and author. After Twenty-two years of service, as Founding Director of African American Student Services and Programs, and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Anthropology, Dr. Derby retired from Georgia State University (GSU) in 2012. During this time she helped thousands of students survive, thrive, be retained and graduate with options.
